Like That Also Can

The reaction on online forums here to the reports has been furious. Some said setting aside so many jobs for foreigners amounted to 'betrayal'. A netizen going by the nickname likedatosocan wrote on one local forum: 'I am jobless now and Singaporean. Why am I not employed? I can go low as well, I mean on salary. I speak English without accent. Why not hire me?

Is Singapore IR really giving 5000 jobs to Filipinos? How absurd coming from the fact that IR is located in Singapore. J

Sounds a little like Malaysia giving away their jobs to foreigners leaving local workers jobless so much so that they have to freeze foreigners intake and this was just a few months ago.

Malaysia will stop taking in foreign workers for the manufacturing and services sectors to force employers to hire more locals as the economic crisis deepens.

Human Resources Minister S Subramaniam said the Cabinet decided on the freeze to look after the welfare of locals who could be laid off.

This came after the ministry found that about 45,000 workers, mostly Malaysians, could be retrenched over the Chinese New Year season, according to one of the leading English newspapers of Malaysia.

Its just so weird that events of such can take place in our nations but then again we're not third world developing countries or are we? Is quantity over quality so obvious here but I don't blame the employers for taking in foreign help giving that they would like to sit back and watch their wealth accumulate without actually breaking a sweat. I've seen and heard stories that just makes me wonder why? Is it a bad thing to work as a road sweeper or even a local gardener? Just this morning I was reading an article where a 45 year old single mother who had to rob a mad of RM220 just to fend for her kids. The judge said that acting on such rash action would only cause grieve for your children, why is that if every other foreigner can earn some cash, why can't she? Is it because she doesn't want a demeaning job or she is just picky? Sighs, the human emotions and mentality is just too hard to understand let alone solve. :P Just my 2 cents really.

Tennis anyone

The rallies were short initially, almost always hitting the net. Spend most of the time picking up the balls. Spend even more time walking outside the court to pick up more balls. Surprisingly we came back with a couple of new ones. Perhaps this time around in my relationship I haven't been picking up the right vibes off her. Not giving her a chance to tell me whats wrong. Did I not provide not enough windows of opportunity? Late night chats didn't help? She said I slept too soon. Maybe I wasn't sensitive enough?
